Iowa Vacation Part III

Who says city kids can't hang with the farm kids??? Three rounds and Jakob ends up taking 2nd place in the Peddle Pull . . . he was Awesome!!!
The temperature in Iowa wasn't very warm while we were there . . . mid to upper 70's practically the entire time. We didn't let that stop us from having some summer fun . . . the kids still hit the Humboldt pool and had a great time despite the cool temps.
Some more pool fun, Joe's cousins rented the Tyke pool for a couple of hours . . .Both kids wanted to go to Arnold's Park on Lake Okoboji. We've been there once before and knew it was a must to go back, it was built back in 1889 and is one of the longest operating amusement parks in the world. It is truly an old-fashioned theme park, OLD wooden roller-coaster and great atmosphere . . . everyone feels like a kid at Arnold's Park! Kaitie and Jakob rode a ton of rides, had cartoon portraits drawn of themselves, had waffle cones, bought souvenirs and both say this was one of the best days of our vacation. The day started out perfectly, sunny and warm . . . 4 1/2 hours later the rain came across the lake and BAM we were hit with a major thunder storm. Jake was on the roller coaster and Kaitie on another ride, by the time they found their way back to me they were soaked!
My little monkey's . . . And Jakob thought this was hilarious . . . Camping in Washington you go to the Mountains, camping in Iowa you go to the Lake. We went to Crystal Lake which Jakob liked to call "Camp Crystal Lake" . . . you know like the movie "Friday the 13th".
