This is the second year in a row we've spent Thanksgiving with my parents, of course in the past fourteen years, I can only remember one Thanksgiving that we weren't able to share it with them. Last year before we all dug in, we went around the table and said what we were Thankful for as we did again this year. Of course Jakob was Thankful for silly things . . . like the fish, the rolls. But what my Dad said he was Thankful for almost brought tears to my eyes . . . and after just losing Joe's Dad, I'm ever so Thankful for the time that I can spend with my parents. This year Joe took over the carving duties because Dad was feeling a bit under the weather. Although he watched Rachel Ray and how she carved the turkey, it just wasn't quite right . . . it ended up being a big pile on the platter when he was finished. Mom made our traditional stuffing, deviled eggs and her famous mashed potatoes and gravy. And of course there was pumpkin and peach pie for dessert. Even though the family table has gotten smaller in the past year, it's still good to spend this time with the ones you love! Here we all are on Thanksgiving Day . . .

Friday morning Joe and I got to the gym early then decided to venture out to the stores . . . hit Starbucks first, got my favorite for this time of year, a Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha, then we made our way to the mall. It really wasn't too crazy, at least not in the stores we went to. We ran into my BIL (Steve) and SIL (Kristi), chatted a bit, it was the first time we'd seen them since getting back from Iowa. We're just about done with our Christmas shopping, all except for the stocking stuffers. The kids spent the day out at Grandma's and Grandpa's . . . after all that shopping we worked up quite an appetite, we had Thanksgiving dinner again that night.

Thanks Gina for spending the day with us! Would have been pretty lonely if you guys didn't come.
There were too many leftovers for just us! Can't seem to downsize my cooking now that the family dinners are downsized.
Tomorrow night it will be turkey soup for everyone!
I made turkey soup and tonight I am using the last of it to make a casserole! ;)
